Beat 1
Looking
up the beat from Boat Rock.
This beat is approximately 440 yards of lovely shallows, mostly wadeable at below 1 foot on the gauge. There are several salmon pools including the main Wyebank pool, all suitable for spinning and fly fishing.
Wyebank Pool at 2 foot.

The water holds salmon to 20lbs and over. In 2005 a 20lb fish was landed and a much larger one lost. Excellent grilse water when conditions are right.
Perfect
conditions for midsummer Trout
Fly fishing for Trout has been improving in recent years. In 2006 4 Rods recorded 20 trout, the largest 4lbs with 11 over 2lbs. The overall average weight was 2.2lbs. All trout are wild, there has been no stocking in this part of the river Wye for many years.

Looking down Beat 1 in spring.
Grayling can be caught throughout the Beat and subject to fishing conditions can provide good autumn fishing.
